3 Lies About Starting Social Media Management

3 Lies about starting a social media management business

Starting a social media management business is an excellent way to turn your passion for social media into a profitable business. As social media has become a crucial aspect of businesses marketing strategies, social media management businesses are in high demand. However, there are several misconceptions about starting a social media management business that can deter aspiring social media managers from getting started. In this blog, I want to debunk three lies about starting a social media management business.

Lie #1: You Need a Website

While having a website is essential for any business, it is not a requirement when starting a social media management business. You can start by creating social media profiles on different platforms, such as Facebook, TikTok and Instagram, to showcase your skills and services.

Moreover, creating a website can be time-consuming and expensive, especially if you are just starting. Therefore, you can use social media platforms to promote your services and connect with potential clients without the need for a website. As your business grows, you can then invest in a website to expand your online presence.

Lie #2: You Need a Large Audience

Another common misconception is that you need a large social media following to start a social media management business. However, this is not true. What you need is the ability to manage social media accounts and deliver results for your clients.

Many businesses are looking for social media managers who can help them improve their online presence and engage with their audience. Therefore, if you can demonstrate your ability to deliver results, you can land clients without having a large following. You can also build your social media presence as you work on your client’s accounts, allowing you to showcase your skills and attract more clients.

You also don’t need a large audience in order to sign clients! Most social media managers just need a few clients, not hundreds. Therefore, you don’t need a huge audience to get started and find your first clients. Just a small engaged audience is enough to land enough clients to have a profitable business.

Lie #3: You Need a Marketing Degree

Having a marketing degree is an advantage when starting a social media management business, but it is not a requirement. What you need is a solid understanding of social media platforms, their algorithms, and the latest trends in social media marketing.

There are several online courses, and resources. and coaching programs that you can use to learn about social media marketing. You can also gain practical experience by managing social media accounts for yourself, your friends and your family, or getting an internship.

In conclusion, starting a social media management business requires dedication, hard work, and a willingness to learn. While having a website, a large audience, or a marketing degree can be an advantage, they are not requirements. By debunking these three lies, we hope to encourage more people to start their social media management business and turn their passion into a profitable venture.
