Is a Disney Cruise Worth the Price?

Is a Disney Cruise Worth the Price? (Honest Review From an Adult Without Kids)

So, you’ve decided you want to take a cruise this year. You’re probably comparing cruise lines, staterooms, dining options, activities—and most importantly—the cost. And if you’ve looked into Disney Cruise Line, you’ve likely noticed one thing: the price tag. Disney cruises can cost double (or even triple) what you’d pay with other cruise lines. That leads to the big question: Is a Disney cruise really worth the price?

I’ve been on seven Disney cruises (both as a kid and as an adult) and I can confidently say—yes, it’s worth every single penny.

But before you assume I’m a die-hard Disney superfan, let me explain: I’m 32 years old, I don’t have kids, and while I enjoy Disney movies and the parks, I wouldn’t call myself obsessed. I’ve also cruised on Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, and Princess, so I have plenty of points of comparison.

Here’s exactly what makes Disney Cruise Line stand out—and why I think it’s worth the splurge speaking as someone who has cruised on the Disney Wish 5 times!

1. The Service – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (10/10)

Disney is famous for its world-class service, and on a cruise, it truly shines. From check-in at the terminal to dining staff and stateroom attendants, every single cast member goes above and beyond to make your trip magical.

We’ve had waitstaff (shout-out to Beverly!) who became such a fun part of our cruise that we still talk about them years later. No request is too big, and everything is met with a genuine smile. It’s the kind of service that makes you feel like royalty the entire trip. They truly think of everything and know exactly how to make your cruise extra special, with their special Disney pixie dust!

2. The Food – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (9/10)

I’m a self-proclaimed foodie, and food is a big part of why I cruise. Luckily, Disney delivers.

  • Casual dining: Think poolside chicken tenders so good they’re basically legendary.
  • Rotational dining: Each night, you eat in a different themed restaurant while your waitstaff comes with you—so you get variety and consistent service.
  • Themed menus: I still dream about the pasta and meatballs in the Frozen-themed Arendelle dining room on the Disney Wish. Each menu truly features something for everyone, and everything is DELICIOUS!
  • Adult-only dining: Palo (Italian steakhouse) and Enchanté (French fine dining) rival Michelin-star restaurants at sea. Palo’s all-you-can-eat brunch is a must if you can snag a reservation.

Bottom line: Disney takes cruise dining to another level, and leave even the most picky foodies wanting more!

3. The Activities – ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (8/10)

A lot of people ask me: “But aren’t Disney cruises just for kids?”

The answer? Not at all. Disney does an amazing job creating activities for both adults and families.

  • For adults: Infinity pools, a full spa with saunas, adults-only lounges, trivia, game shows, live music, and themed bars and resturants.
  • For kids: Character meet-and-greets, themed kids’ clubs, teen hangouts, the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, splash zones, and the AquaDuck water coaster. Plus, way shorter lines for princesses and characters than in the parks. Also, their broadway-style shows that are shockingly good (seriously, don’t skip them).
  • Private Island: Disney now has not one, but TWO private islands in the Carribean. Castaway Cay is truly a little slice of paradise. The water is crystal clear and the most gorgeous shade of blue, you won’t want to leave your perfect beach day. There are also multiple beach areas that cater to different age groups, and also an exclusive adults only beach area so you can truly relax in our own tropical oasis.

You’ll never run out of things to do—whether you want action-packed fun or total relaxation.

4. Cleanliness – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (10/10)

As someone who leans a little germaphobic, I can’t stress enough how spotless Disney ships are.

  • Staterooms are cleaned twice a day with fresh linens and nightly turndown service.
  • Crew members are constantly cleaning common areas.
  • Even public bathrooms are pristine (and that’s saying something on a cruise).

On other cruise lines, I have come home, feeling like I need to jump right into the shower. The Disney cruise however, leaves me wishing my house was as neat and tidy as I got used to on my vacation

5. Ship Theming – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (10/10)

Nobody does immersive theming like Disney.

  • Boarding experience: Your family name is announced in the grand atrium as your favorite characters wave and welcome you aboard.
  • Dining: Themed restaurants like Arendelle (Frozen) or Worlds of Marvel make every dinner feel like dinner and a show.
  • Bars and Lounges: Each bar tells a specific story based on your favorite Disney stories. From the HyperSpace Star Wars bar to the Beauty and the Beast themed Rose bar, there is truly something for everyone. And also, the drinks are SO good!
  • Spaces throughout the ship: Every detail is perfectly designed to transport you into Disney stories. There is truly not one area on the ship that doesn’t have a touch of magic.

It doesn’t matter if you’re 5 or 55—you’ll find yourself smiling at the details.

6. Adults-Only Spaces – ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (8/10)

Even though Disney is family-focused, there are plenty of kid-free escapes.

  • Adults-only pool deck: Infinity pool, bar, Jacuzzi, and lounge chairs overlooking the ocean.
  • Themed bars & lounges: From the Star Wars-themed Hyperspace Lounge to the elegant Beauty and the Beast-inspired Rose bar.
  • Upscale dining: Palo and Enchanté offer fine dining that competes with land-based Michelin restaurants.

If you’re traveling without kids (like me), you’ll still feel like you’re on a luxury vacation designed just for you.
