Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort Review

🌟 Overview of the Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort

Our experience of the Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort was exactly what we were looking for. We wanted a mid-luxury resort that was well priced, full of ammenities, beach front and centrally located. We were planning a week-long stay in Kauai and wanted a hotel that was comfortable for 3 adults. The Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort hit all the marks and was the perfect home away from home in Hawaii.

  • Location: Kapa’a Hawaii, about 15-20 minutes from Lihue airport
  • Category: Beachfront resort
  • Price Range: Mid-luxury, rooms starting around $400/night
  • Best For: Families, honeymoon couples
  • Rating: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜† (4 out of 5)

✨ First Impressions

We arrived at night after a 12+ hour travel day. Safe to say we were very exhausted and equally as happy to arrive at the grand open-air lobby of the hotel. We were quickly greeted by the hotel staff and given welcome leis for our arrival, which really set the tone for our Hawaii vacation.

πŸ“Location

Distance from the airport: This was a super easy 6-mile drive from the airport. The drive time was about 15-20 minutes.Β

Distance to main attractions: This hotel was fairly centrally located between the North Shore and the south side of the island making it a great location for seeing the sites in both areas.

Walkability: You will definitely need to rent a car to explore the island. There is not much you can walk to. However, the resort is right on the beach so you don’t need to go very far to get gorgeous beach views. There is a grocery store and a few local restaurants a quick 2-minute drive from the hotel. There is also a pharmacy right next door in case you forget any essentials.

Overall location thoughts: Overall, one of the main reasons we chose this hotel was for its wonderful central location. While Kauai is not that big, it does require driving to see most of the main sites and attractions. For this reason, being in the Kapa’a area is great as you can easily get to both sides of the island by car. We also loved the direct beach access and convenience of going to the Kapa’a town for breakfast and grabbing local coffee at Java Kai.

πŸ—οΈ Our Room

  • Room Type: Corner ocean view with balcony on the second floor
  • Design: Modern tropical vibe
  • Amenities: Private ocean view balcony
  • Views: Ocean view of their private beach area
  • Overall Impression: Our room was a very standard beach hotel room. There were some modern decor elements that made it feel more of a β€œHawaii vibe” but the room and bathroom did feel a bit dated. The TV had trouble connecting to our phone, so we were not able to stream movies and shows from our phone to the TV at night. Also, the air conditioning worked well but was quite loud. But overall, it was comfortable for three people and we loved waking up to the oceanfront views every morning.

🍹 Dining & Drinks

  • On-Site Restaurants:
    • Crooked Surf –Β  Classic beach bites with a Hawaii flare. We got poke bowls and chicken bowls and both were tasty.Β
    • Day Break – Breakfast buffet and sit down breakfast, lunch and dinner options available.
    • First light – Coffee and Juice bar with small breakfast bites.
  • Breakfast: Not included in our room rate. We did have the breakfast buffet and there was a nice seleaction of warm and cold food options available with pre-made eggs benedicts on the buffet line. There was also an omlet chef helping to prepare custom orders as well.
  • Room Service: Room service was available.

🌊 Amenities & Experiences

  • Pools & Spas: Infinity pool, hot tub, lounge chairs and hammocks on the beach and complimentary beach chairs with umbrellas. We really loved using the hammocks to watch the waves roll in on the beach. Pro-tip, go out early and catch the sunrise!
  • Amenities: Coin laundry rooms with washers and dryers were available on every floor, however, many were out of order and not working when were there. There was also a game room with pool table and table shuffleboard.
