Best Restaurants in York Beach, Maine: Top Spots for Lobster, Seafood & Ocean Views

Best Restaurants in York Beach, Maine

Planning a trip to York Beach, Maine and wondering where to eat? From classic lobster shacks with coastal views to cozy local spots serving up New England favorites, York Beach is packed with delicious dining options. Whether you’re craving fresh-off-the-boat lobster, creamy clam chowder, or just a casual bite by the beach, this little beachside town has something for everyone. Here are the best restaurants in York Beach, Maine that combine great seafood coastal vibes, and unforgettable views.

Fox’s Lobster House

Vibes: 8/10
Fox’s is the quintessential New England seafood spot. Think old-school sea captain charm, a family-run feel, and breathtaking views of the rocky Maine coastline with the iconic Nubble Lighthouse as your backdrop. It’s cozy, classic, and while not flashy, the views make it pure New England magic.

Service: 8/10
The staff is friendly, attentive, and clearly know their stuff (you can tell many of them have been here for years). They’re quick with recommendations, though service can slow down when it gets super busy. Expect a wait for a table during peak times, so plan ahead.

Flavor: 9/10
This is one of my all-time favorite spots in York Beach, and it never disappoints. The flavors are consistently on point—after all, you can’t go wrong with lobster fresh from Maine’s coast. My picks:

  • New England Clam Chowder – perfectly creamy and flavorful.
  • Twin Fried Lobster Tails – crispy outside, tender and sweet inside. Absolute perfection.
And don’t skip their outdoor ice cream stand for dessert with a lighthouse view.

Value: 8/10
Yes, lobster is pricey, but Fox’s prices are fair and in line with the quality and location. You’re paying for great food and panoramic views of Nubble. For the full New England lobster experience, it’s absolutely worth it.

Sun and Surf

Vibes: 6/10
This spot screams beach day convenience. Smack in the middle of Long Sands Beach, it’s perfect for grabbing a quick bite without leaving your towel behind. The vibe is casual, no-frills, but if you snag an outdoor table you’ll catch wave sounds and even a peek at Nubble Lighthouse in the distance.

Service: 7/10
Quick, efficient, and beach-friendly. They even have a walk-up window for takeout, so you can grab food or ice cream and head right back to the sand.

Flavor: 8/10
Don’t let the casual setup fool you—this food hits above average for a beach spot. Some favorites:

  • Breakfast: Eggs Benedict (get the Lobster Benedict if you’re feeling adventurous).
  • Lunch: Fresh wraps for something light, or the fried clam strips for something indulgent.
Everything I’ve had here tastes fresh and flavorful.

Value: 7/10
Sure, the prices are a little high, but you’re paying for the convenience of not interrupting your beach day. Considering the seafood quality, it’s a solid value compared to your average soggy beach sandwich.

Lobster Cove

Vibes: 6/10
Set in a two-story house right across from Long Sands Beach, Lobster Cove gives major laid-back, local vibes. The setup is simple—think picnic tables and cozy dining rooms—but the wall-to-wall windows mean you’ll always have a killer ocean view with your meal.

Service: 7/10
Friendly, fast, and accommodating. Want a window table? They’ll do their best, though you may need to wait a bit longer. Pro tip: arrive early if you want the best seat in the house.

Flavor: 9/10
Don’t be fooled by the casual vibe—the food is seriously good. This is another one of my York Beach must-visits, especially for the Lobster Pie (basically a lazy-man’s lobster baked in bisque with a breadcrumb crust). It’s rich, decadent, and SO good.

Value: 7/10
The atmosphere is simple, but the food and views more than make up for it. Yes, you’re paying a bit extra for location, but when the lobster is this good, it’s worth every bite.
