Have you ever found yourself wondering how to optimize your content for Instagram grid vs Instagram Stories?

Now that Instagram has released another features, IG Reels, let’s make sure were are clear on how to optimize our Grid and Stories before adding another micro-platform into the mix!

Currently the two most used “micro-platforms” on Instagram are the Grid posts and IG stories!

They serve two very different purposes, but they work together to both grow and nurture your audience!

The problem I see most online entrepreneurs making is that they don’t quite understand how to optimize their content for each of these micro-platforms.

Here are some main differences between your Instagram Grid vs. Instagram Stories:

𝗚𝗿𝗶𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 grow your audience! They get shared by your audience and discovered on hashtags! You never know when a post will be seen by a new follower so make these posts high quality!

𝗜𝗚 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 nurture your audience! Stories are shown to people already in your audience. Keep serving up great content for your followers in your stories and letting them connect with you on a more personal level

𝗚𝗿𝗶𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 are your personal brand billboard. These are more curated and “on-brand”. They live on your profile, so make sure they are visually appealing and high value!

𝗜𝗚 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 are more genuine, authentic and “in the moment”. Share more lifestyle content here, snapshots of your dinner, funny dog videos, etc.

𝗚𝗿𝗶𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 want to get more “shares” and saves” for engagement. The higher your engagement, the more people the algorithm will show your content to!

𝗜𝗚 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 want to get more sticker taps and DM’s for engagement! Make sure to add engagement tools so that the algorithm can continue to show your content to more people. You also want to encourage your viewers to send you DM’s so that you can continue to nurture the relationship!

𝗚𝗿𝗶𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 great to share a few times per week! Quality over quantity here! Everyday there are so many posts being published, you don’t want your content to just add to the noise. Make sure that your posts are always working to support your content goals and make sure they are high quality!

𝗜𝗚 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 perfect to post multiple times per day! The more the merrier when it comes to stories! Have fun with them, let your audience get to know you on a more personal level here. This is the perfect opportunity to share photos of your dog, dinner and day to day activities that might not fit on your grid.
