We have all created stories about what it takes to be successful on Instagram. Defining your personal goals for what success looks like for you and your business is going to be the first step in debunking some of these myths. Let me guess, you probably want to grow an audience that loves you and your offers and want to work with you…easy enough!
Well I am here to tell you that those goals are not a distant dream or a far-fetched goal. Despite all the chatter about the algorithm being out to get us, the truth is, there has never been an easier time to start connecting with your ideal clients and start seeing results on Instagram.
But first, I want to debunk these common myths that you may be telling yourself that may be holding you back from being successful on Instagram!
1. I need to have thousands of followers to be successful on Instagram
While having a bit of a following is obviously important, you do not need nearly as many followers as you think! Let me ask you this- would you rather have 10,000 unrelated, non-engaged, fake accounts or 1,000 highly targeted and highly engaged followers? The answer is simple – 1,000!
While it can be easy to get caught up in the vanity metrics of having a large number of followers, if those followers are not your ideal clients then you are not going to get the results you want. I am here to let you know that having a small audience of just 1k targeted followers is PLENTY for you to start seeing massive results in your business.
2. I will have to spend too much time on the app
While your Instagram is not going to build itself, you do not need to spend all of your time on the app to see success. If you have a plan and a strategy when it comes to Instagram, then you can focus your time on the activities that are going to produce the greatest results. Spending just 20 minutes a day engaging with your audience can lead to big results on Instagram!
3. My life is not interesting enough to share about
We all know that Instagram users want to build connections. I don’t know about you, but I tend to connect more with people who are relatable rather than those who are living these extraordinary lives. While those people who are living these super crazy lives are fun to follow, I tend to connect and build quicker and more meaningful relationships with people who I can relate to.
You may be thinking, I have nothing exciting to share on my feed. WRONG! I can’t tell you how many times a simple photo of my dinner has received more engagement than any of my previous posts that week. Be relatable and watch how your followers start to connect with you more! Those connections are the true measure of what it looks like to be successful on Instagram!
There you have it- the three biggest Instagram myths debunked!
