Welcome back Virtual Visionaries! I can’t believe it’s already December, I feel like this year has just flown by! It’s usually around this time that I like to do a little inventory of what went well during the year and what I want to focus on for next year! For me, personally, this has been a year of figuring out what direction I want my business to go in. I have been pulled in so many different directions and it took a while to really figure things out. 2020 was a time of uncertainty and absolute chaos – and just trying a million different things. But 2021, for me, was all about figuring out what I ultimately want out of my business and personal life.

I am really excited to let you know that I am in the midst of a super exciting rebrand for my business! I am going to be changing up my offers a bit and growing my team. I’m even going to be announcing a very exciting offer for content services soon…so stay tuned for details about that! There is so much going on behind the scenes and I am excited to finally be able to share it all, and finally get back into a more normal rhythm and flow once all of these new projects settle down a bit! But, yeah, that’s whats going on here!

With all that said, I wanted to check in with you. As we close out the year, there’s one area of my business that I like to reflect on. In fact, I definitely recommend that you take inventory of it, too, and that is your Instagram marketing.

Obviously, Instagram marketing is a super powerful aspect of your online business strategy. It is important to be taking note of what went well, where you can improve, and where you can implement new things in your strategy. This is especially true right now, since Instagram is releasing so many exciting new features!

So the question that I would love for you to start out asking is, how did your Instagram marketing efforts go this year? If you feel like you did not see the results that you wanted, what can you do? What can you do if you are not making sales from instagram?

The first step when you are trying to figure all of this out is to recognize what instagram “working” looks like for you in your business.

Typically, if you are an online business owner, you want to make sure that your Instagram account is bringing you new leads and ultimately sales. You want to make sure that the time your spending on the app is bringing in profits, right?

If your business is not making sales from Instagram, there are four areas you want to look at. So let’s dive into each of them.

Number one – were you consistent? Have you gone “all in” on your Instagram strategy?

So what does that look like? Have you been showing up regularly? Have you been posting a few times each week, are you showing up in stories? Are you spending time engaging with your audience, commenting back, answering DM’s. This is all a form of consistency.

The other thing you want to think about is whether you’ve been consistent with your message. Have you been consistently sharing about the topics you want to be known for, or want your audience to associate you with? Are you consistently promoting your offers? Are you consistently sharing high-quality graphics and images and are you staying on-brand and on-message? Or are you throwing in some “fluff” posts, posting about the dinner you’re cooking, adding in some random photos and posting just to post?

Are you really going “all in” and committing to being consistent, creating high-quality, on-brand content and are you posting and engaging on a regular basis?

Or, instead, are you taking months off and then getting uninspired and taking more time off… I know I have been guilty of this myself. Life happens and sometimes it is hard to be consistent. I noticed that my Instagram engagement took a big drop when this happened – but you just have to get back at it. So no matter where you are, if you took some time off or if you just haven’t had a plan to be consistent, decide to go all in, get back at it and just keep showing up and doing your thing. The results will follow!

The next thing you want to think about is: do you have a sales system set up to actually turn your followers into customers? This is what I call an Instagram sales funnel. Basically, it just means that you have a free resource that you are promoting that allows you to get people to go to your email list where you send them a series of sales emails that pitch your offers for you!

Having a sales system set up can dramatically change your business. It allows you to focus on creating amazing content and nurturing your audience while your emails sell for you on the backend so you don’t have to be pitching 24/7.

If you don’t have your Instagram sales system set up, I would highly recommend you watch my Free Masterclass at karacahill.com/freetraining where I go over this in-depth how you can get this set up for your business. karacahill.com/freetraining

Making sure you have a sales stream is huge, as well as making sure that you are talking about this free resource and directing people to sign up for it regularly! Having the free lead magnet or free resource is not enough, you actually need to make sure that you are promoting it! So that is number three, making sure that you are regularly promoting your free lead magnets, making sure that the link in your bio sends people to the sign up page and making sure that you are always getting people onto your email list and into your email sales sequence!

And, finally, the last thing to think about is, do you have a content strategy that actually converts? Do you feel confident that what you are posting is actually moving people towards a sale. With so many people on Instagram and so many people creating content, you want to make sure that your content breaks through the noise.

You want to make sure that you know your ideal customer, and that you are creating content that speaks directly to them. This can be accomplished by conducting market research, finding out what your ideal clients are asking about, what they are struggling with, and creating content that addresses those issues for them!

It’s vital to do market research surveys/calls. You can look though facebook groups where your Ideal clients are hanging out, or you can just get in the DM’s and start talking to your people! So really make sure that your content is going to connect and cut through the noise and is all focused on driving your audience towards a sale. That is the last piece of your Instagram sales audit.

So, to recap, these are the four things to do if you are not making sales from Instagram: #1 ask if you have been consistent #2 have a sales system set up #3 be sure you are directing people to your free lead magnet with consistent promotion and #4 make sure your content is set up for conversions.
